# THE Welcome

## Getting started...

If this is your first time finding out about THE Protocol then we would suggest starting out with [**THE Lore**](/the-whitepaper/the-welcome/the-lore.md).

The next thing to do would be to check [**THE History**](/the-whitepaper/the-welcome/the-history.md) where you'll discover the unique way this project came into existence.

Once you are acclimated with the essentials it's a good idea to take a look at [**THE Idea**](/the-whitepaper/the-welcome/the-idea.md), where you'll learn about the infectious nature of THE Protocol and its limitless potential.

The rest of the document is yours to explore as you best see fit. However, one final piece of advice is to check [**THE DAO**](/the-whitepaper/the-dao/intro-to-the-dao.md) where we go over what makes our utility something you will want to be a part of.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://the-protocol-erc.gitbook.io/the-whitepaper/the-welcome.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
